Friends, there has been interest in having a reading group around Malcom Gladwell's book the Tipping Point. I propose that we have our first meeting on Oct 18th at 6:30pm at Five Guys in Chinatown.

Location is good for me but I wouldn't be able to make it that week. The previous Thursday, 10/11, would be good for the though.

Can't go that week, but thanks for the invite.

As for the overall concept of a tech book club, I'd certainly enjoy it. I'm in two monthly book clubs already so I may not make it to everything but I'd be happy to provide any guidance if people need any :-)

By all means, please post guidance.

I could do the 11th is that works best for everyone. But no telling me you can't go to the nclud open house because you made your one trip into DC for the week already!

I can do 7:30 on either day. Already read the book a while ago but would be happy to join the discussion. It's a fun set of concepts to chat about.

As a side: It's conversations like this that are why we should vote for this idea on dcstartupweekend (I don't want credit, I want a solution!): http://dcstartupweekend.wikispaces.com/Event+Coordinator

The 11th works for me as well, the 18th is good as well. Why 5 guys though? :)

Reply to This

I thought 5 guys cause most bars are really loud and hard to hear folks and have a serious discussion.

Some of the popular places for book clubs to meet up, as an fyi:

Teaism by Chinatown/Archives
Warehouse Theatre
Bin 1700 (Crystal City)

So how about we just say it's the 11th?

I'll be in SF, CA on the 11th - speaking at ZendCon this year - but hope to make the next meeting...

So lets say the 11th of October at 6:30 at Five Guys in Chinatown. We'll meet every other week.

I would like to attend, however, I haven't even cracked the book open.
