Koll på matematik 3A Brain ischemia (a.k.a. cerebral
ischemia, cerebrovascular
ischemia) is a condition in which there is insufficient blood flow to the
brain to meet metabolic demand. This leads to poor oxygen supply or cerebral hypoxia and thus to the death of
brain tissue or cerebral infarction / ischemic stroke. It is a sub-type of stroke along with subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracerebral hemorrhage.
Brain ischemia is insufficient blood flow to the
brain, and can be
acute or chronic.
Acute ischemic stroke is a neurologic emergency that may be reversible if treated rapidly. Chronic
ischemia of the
brain may result in a form of dementia called vascular dementia. A brief episode of
ischemia affecting the
brain is called a transient ischemic attack (TIA), often called a mini-stroke. The goal of imaging in a patient with
acute stroke is: Exclude hemorrhage Differentiate between irreversibly affected
brain tissue and reversibly impaired tissue (dead tissue versus tissue at risk)
Strangers A Family Romance x Status dystonicus (SD) is defined as a severe, life-threatening episode of a generalized or focal hyperkinetic movement disorder [1]. Many movement disorders may progress to SD either with or without a specific trigger. Unexpected interruption to deep
brain stimulation (DBS) treatment due to battery depletion or other factors is increasingly recognized as a precipitant of SD [2,3] (Table 1). BEST Acute brain ischemia PDF

acute stroke syndrome, neuroimaging plays a critical role in determining patient care. NCCT remains the first-line imaging technique for differentiating hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke and identifying other etiologies for altered neurologic status, such as an intracranial mass. 1 In stroke, NCCT is used to exclude

Hypoxic-ischemic brain injury is a diagnostic term that encompasses a complex constellation of pathophysiological and molecular injuries to the
brain induced by hypoxia,
ischemia, cytotoxicity, or combinations of these conditions (Busl and Greer 2010). Publicationdate November 24, 2008 Knowledge of the vascular territories is important, because it enables you to recognize infarctions in arterial territories, in watershed regions and also venous infarctions. Ischemia can also occur in the arteries of the
brain, where blockages can lead to a stroke.About 80-85% of all strokes are ischemic. Most blockages in the cerebral arteries are due to a blood clot, often in an artery narrowed by plaque.

Ischemia of the spinal cord is rare, its prevalence is not well-known, and it has a poor prognosis. It accounts for approximately 6% of all
acute myelopathies and approximately 1%–2% of all vascular neurologic pathologies. 1 Several causes are implicated in
ischemia of the spinal cord, which differ in the pediatric and adult populations. D.o.w.n.l.o.a.d Acute brain ischemia Review Online
